Stone Age Music through time - Autumn 2023
We participated in a variety of activities, including: creating a timeline using various lengths of string, which were the appropriate length relative to the time that each time period lasted for.
We also investigated flint and decided whether or not each flint was a Stone Age tool. We used the criteria of whether it had a white edge on the outside, (a normal piece), if it had rainbow lines depicting where an impact from another flint could have been as the people had struck it to form the sharp shape. And also whether or not it had a black shiny colour.
Then we had the opportunity to classify real Stone age arrow heads. We could look at the differences in their shape and noticed some had more ‘serrated edges, some edges were smooth, some had arrow head shapes and some had leaf shapes.
Finally, we used recreations of Stone Age instruments and formed a band, all joining in with a Stone Age song!
